A BARSC Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) will be held at the Geological Society on Tuesday 7 December 2010, following Liz Fox’s presentation – it is likely that the EGM will start at 3.30pm.

The purpose of the EGM is to consider a proposal to change the terms of membership for Associate Members, given the significant growth in the number of our Associate Members in recent years. Associate Membership is currently available to very small companies free of charge, but these members are barred from serving on the BARSC Executive Committee and are unable to vote at General Meetings.

The EGM will propose that from 2011 Associate Members will be able to serve on the Executive Committee (although not as officers of the association) and will be able to vote at BARSC General Meetings. In tandem with this change, BARSC will propose that a nominal annual subscription fee for Associate Members be introduced, and set for 2011 at £50.00.

Both motions are designed to increase the involvement and engagement of associate members of BARSC and to strengthen the Association as a whole. The BARSC officers would welcome expressions of interest from Associate Members who wish to serve on the Executive Committee in 2011.

If you would like to attend the BARSC EGM please just reply to this email – also apologies for absence would be appreciated.
