Thursday 16th November 2017

Specto Natura, along with other members of the EAGLE Group, is supporting the European Environment Agency (EEA) and DG GROW in the development of a new concept for land monitoring in Europe.

EEA and DG GROW are hosting a Copernicus Land Monitoring User Consultation Workshop as part of this development.

Land is one to the most precious resources for mankind, which requires thoughtful management and continuous monitoring.  The CORINE Land Cover (CLC) product of the EEA has provided 25 years of crucial information in land monitoring.  However, new policy challenges, such as climate change, urban planning, greening the agriculture and many more need reliable, frequently updated, more detailed and better than ever European wide land monitoring information.

The consultation workshop aims to present a first draft of the next generation core Copernicus land product, code-named CLC+, give ample space for a constructive dialogue and to collect feedback from stakeholders in advance of finalising the technical specifications.

The workshop will take place on the 16th of November 2017, at the European Commission’s Albert Borschette Congress Center (CCAB), room 0.A, Rue Froissart 36 1040 Brussels. It will be of interest to all end users, producers and stakeholders of the land community in Europe who wish to contribute to this exciting development in the framework of Copernicus and the Sentinel era.

The event is open and free to registered participants but please note that EEA will not provide any reimbursement of costs related to the workshop – register before 13th November 2017 at http://copernicus.eu/clcplusworkshop
