The British Association of Remote Sensing Companies (BARSC), the organisation that represents the interests of British-based earth observation companies, has announced the election of both a new Chairman and Vice-Chair.

Following the Association’s recent AGM, Alistair Maclenan, Managing Director of the geospatial marketing agency Quarry One Eleven was appointed as the new Chairman for the next two years.

Over the last two years, Alistair has worked with the rest of the BARSC Executive Committee and under the direction of the past-Chair, Chetan Pradhan to increase the association’s profile throughout the industry. This work has seen BARSC provide policy advice to the UK Space Agency amongst other important organisations and increase its number of member companies.

Speaking about his new role, Alistair said;

“The British Association of Remote Sensing Companies speaks for the commercial earth observation community, we work to promote our member’s capabilities throughout every level and department of national and international governance. Our aims for the next two years is to increase the size of this community and its influence”

Alongside Alistair, Sam Lavender was voted in as Vice-Chair. Sam heads up the Pixalytics consultancy which is dedicated to the promotion and wider use of space-based imagery. Sam’s huge knowledge of the remote sensing industry will be invaluable as the association continues to move forward.

The full BARSC Executive Committee is now:
